A Mother of Confusion
2011
Oil on canvas
24″ x 30″
Day 45 of the “A Painting a Day Challenge”. This was not entirely done on one day. I started with an old discarded piece that I painted over. A few years later I worked on it some more.
My wife finds this disturbing and doesn’t want to look at it. In my mind this piece is a mother that is suffering from an identity crisis of sorts. She is both literally and figuratively confused about where she ends and her child begins. Her body parts are not hers any longer and nothing makes sense. She is just a body of confusion.
