Welcome to the art gallery of David Rahman. The paintings, drawings and photographs you’ll see here span more than 45 years of my work.
My style is intentionally eclectic. All through university I was encouraged to choose one direction, develop a signature look, and “do a series.” Gallery owners later told me the same thing. But staying within a single style has never felt right for me. I’ve always been more interested in exploring ideas, moods, and techniques than in repeating myself.
For me, painting isn’t about producing a consistent product. It’s about curiosity, discovery, and the experience of creating each piece. While I’ve sold work over the years, that has never been my goal. I paint because I love the process. If there’s any thread that connects my work, it may be my approach to color and how I use it to shape emotion and atmosphere.
