This was inspired by a photo of André Breton a writer and poet that was the co-founder of the Surrealist movement. It was only after I stopped working on this piece and stared at one night when coming home from a party did I see that the woman had her fist in her mouth and was possibly throwing up. I had to go back and look at the original photo and compare. She was most definitely not doing that in the photograph. My subconscious interpretation turned her into a bulimic ready to purge. Only now 30 years later do I remember that my girlfriend at the time was suffering from bulimia. I did not make this connection back then.
