Scratchboard
7″ x 9″
This is the very first assignment in my 10th grade art class. I was around 15 or 16 years old. It is a board covered with a black ink. I used a needle to scratch the ink off. It is a reverse method of drawing where you draw with the light. Each scratch makes a white mark. As I worked on it, the image began to take shape and I was shocked. I had no idea I could do this. It was a hidden talent up to that point.
